2014 March

Fri 21st
Jamaica
Montego bay
Arrived and checked in. Beers were $5 each for a bottle of red stripe and change was never the same!
Happy hour monday to friday $2-50 ish, again change was never the same.
Check out was a mess because Customs gave us the right documents but the wrong information.
A 10 minute dinghy ride across the bay gets you to Pier one and a half mile walk to the centre. Dock was

high so dinghy rode underneath it, always a worry. Bar was empty but apparently full from 11pm until 4!
Town was a constant hassle but we can cope with that by now. We walked down the Hip Strip which is a

load of tourist tut shops with a heavy security presence.
We took a taxi to get a new battery for the SSB, a gas refil and the supermarket which was huge, stoked

up and left.

Tue 25th
Discovery bay
Discovery bay was a breath of fresh air. We were not expecting much as there is a bauxite plant and

dock in the west. However Fishermans beach is full of bars we spent a few hours in Bashment where

Natash serves behind and couple of lads do some good cooking. We got freebies every tie we went,

beer, saltfish fritters, grillled parrot fish etc. There is excelent holding in sand and although the bay

would probably hold 50 yachts there were never more than 4 including us. Very friendly and the

supermarket is a half mile walk.
As our papers were filled out incorrectly we first went to the bauxite dock where customs check us in

but said we needed to go to St Annes to check out. We had no intention of sailing there so taxied over. We

were then sent back to the bauxite dock where we got fresh papers and a supervisor drove from the

next bay with a stamp to make them ligit. Service was free but it cost us $40 in taxis. That includes a

drive to the Green Grotto. Caves full of bats and a couple of boa constrictors. Quite interesting and fun

but not worth $20 each.

Mon 31st
Ocho Rios
A very quiet bay, good holding in sand and a very busy town. Good farmers market were everyone acted

in a very slow and wide eyed way! Huge supermarket with loads of goodies. We tried the jucy paties

which were deffinately not. One brief visit from the police to say hello and enjoy the bay.
